How we use your data when you participate in a Customer IQ research study

(aka ourData Privacy and Retention Policy)

We place an emphasis on trust and transparency with the people who participate in a research study managed by Customer IQ Limited. This might be completing a survey, taking part in a research interview or a focus group, or any other type of market research study.

The information on this page is written in plain English and aims to help you understand what happens to the data you share with us.

Your privacy really matters to us. When you take part in our research study, we want you to feel confident that your personal information is safe and used responsibly.


What Information Do We Collect?

The ‘data’ we collect can be categorised as:

  • Personal Information: Only where necessary, we will ask for your name, email address, and any other contact details required such as a telephone number.
  • Research Responses/Data: For example, your answers to the survey questions, your answers to interview questions and your contributions to group discussions.


How Will We Use Your Data?

  • Data Analysis: We use your responses, along with responses from other people, to identify patterns and trends and gain more understanding on a particular topic and/or a particular customer or audience.
  • Communication: There will be certain situations where we need to contact you as part of a research study. Some examples are:
    • Booking an interview slot
    • Sending you information about a focus group or similar activity
    • Informing you of a prize draw win
    • Inviting you to take part in further research (only where you have expressed an interest in doing so)
    • Sharing a copy of the results of a research study (only where you have expressed an interest in receiving them)


How Do We Protect Your Data?

  • Secure Storage: Your data is stored securely with password protection and ‘2-factor authentication’
  • Limited Access: We limit the people who can access the data only to those who absolutely need to


How Long Do We Keep Your Data?

  • Retention Period: We will keep your data for a maximum of 3 years – in most cases we do not need to keep it for this long. After a maximum of 3 years, your data will be securely deleted.
  • Early Deletion: If you wish to have your data deleted before the retention period ends, please contact us, and we will promptly remove your information.


What Rights Do You Have?

  • Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can ask us to correct any inaccuracies in your data.
  • Deletion: You can request the deletion of your data at any time.
